Maya Muon Tracking

چکیده
We describe the muon track direction (pointing backwards along the trajectory) by the zenith angle Θ and azimuth Φ. The position of one point on the muon trajectory can be taken as the point of closest approach to the axis of the detector cylinder. The distance of closest approach of the muon track to the axis is denoted by b in what follows. Uncertainty in the extrapolated track arising from position errors is negligible compared to

Data Acquisition and Trigger Considerations
This note discusses requirements on data acquisition and triggering for the UT Maya Muon detector. The detector is described in a conceptual design report [1] (CDR). The present discussion is limited to the tracking system which is used to form event triggers and to measure muon trajectories; data from the Cherenkov system will be read out and recorded when a trigger generated by the tracking s...
متن کاملPattern-recognition and Reconstruction for Muon Tracking
This note examines pattern-recognition and track reconstruction issues for the scintillator tracking system of the UT Maya Muon detector [1]. The basic geometry and performance characteristics of the tracking system are described in [2]. As described in the references, the scintillator strips are assumed to form helices of a fixed pitch-angle θs on their respective tracking layers. The tracking...
متن کاملProduction heights of muons determined with the Muon Tracking Detector of the KASCADE experiment
The capability of the Muon Tracking Detector to measure the radial and tangential angles of muons in extensive air showers, in combination with the shower direction as determined by the scintillator array of KASCADE experiment, has been investigated. Due to different characteristics in shower development of light and heavy primary particles the radial angle is sensitive to the mass of them. For...
متن کاملThe PHENIX Muon Trigger Upgrade
The PHENIX muon trigger upgrade adds Level-1 trigger detectors to existing forward muon spectrometers and will enhance the ability of the experiment to pursue a rich program of spin physics in polarized proton collisions at √ s = 500 GeV . The additional muon trigger detectors and Level-1 trigger electronics will allow the experiment to select high momentum muons from the decay of W -bosons and...
متن کاملMicro-Pattern Gas Detectors for Charged-Particle Tracking and Muon Detection
In the context of the 2013 APS-DPF Snowmass summer study conducted by the U.S. HEP community, this white paper outlines a roadmap for further development of Micro-pattern Gas Detectors for tracking and muon detection in HEP experiments. We briefly discuss technical requirements and summarize current capabilities of these detectors with a focus of operation in experiments at the energy frontier ...
